Scarborough Cricket Club avenged last year’s defeat, registering a comfortable 31 run win against Dom Tear’s Scarborough Athletic side in a high scoring T20 challenge match at North Marine Road.
With the cricketers batting first, opener Dan Artley retired after blasting 51 from 28 balls, including 4 fours and 4 sixes, and captain David Snowball hit 6 fours in an unbeaten 46 from 29 balls. Hayden Williamson chipped in with an impressive 33 as the Cricket Club posted an imposing total of 170-3, Ryan Whitley taking two wickets and wicket-keeper Jimmy Beadle claiming two dismissals.
In reply, Dom Tear’s 31 gave the footballers a decent start to their mammoth run chase, and a terrific knock of 35 from star performer Jimmy Beadle (5 fours and a six) kept the crowd entertained. Ryan Blott also contributed some terrific shots, but the Cricket Club bowlers had the upper hand. Kieran Rutter took three wickets, two stumpings by keeper Dan Artley, and economical figures from Hayden Williamson, Archie Hammond, James Denton, youngster Mike Mulryne and Tom Yates saw Boro fall well short of their target.
The event was raising funds for both Scarborough Athletic FC and Scarborough Cricket Club.
