The Town Mayor of Whitby, Councillor Sandra Turner, has presented a cheque for £486.78 to the RAF Benevolent Fund, following fundraising by Whitby Town Council staff and councillors at the town’s Armed Forces Day event in June.
The cheque was presented to Wing Commander Toby Steward, Commanding Officer of RAF Fylingdales, and Flight Sergeant Keith Burt MBE.
The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF’s leading welfare charity, providing practical, emotional, and financial support to serving and former RAF personnel and their families.
Councillor Sandra Turner, Town Mayor of Whitby, said:
“It was a pleasure to present this donation to such a worthwhile cause. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to our fundraising efforts at Armed Forces Day, as well as the Council staff and councillors who helped make the event a success.
Whitby has strong connections with the Armed Forces, particularly through our close relationship with RAF Fylingdales, and we are proud to support a charity that does so much for serving personnel, veterans, and their families.”
